Castle Malting Chocolat malt 900-1100 EBC 1 kg
Belgian chocolate malt. Roasted at 220°C and then quickly cooled once the desired colour is obtained.
Characteristics
Castle Malting Chocolat malt is a malt that is roasted at high temperatures to produce its deep brown colour from which its name is derived. It is used to darken the colour of beer and give it a roasted, nutty flavour. Castle Malting Chocolat malt shares many of the characteristics of Black Malt but provides a less bitter flavour and is lighter, as it is roasted for a slightly shorter period of time and at lower final temperatures. Contains gluten.
Usage
Brown, strong, darker and black beers, such as porters, stouts and brown ales. Up to 7% of the mix.
Storage
Malt should be stored in a clean, cool (< 22°C) and dry (< 35% RH) area.
